The HypnoBirthing Childbirth method is as much a philosophy of birth as it is a technique for achieving a satisfying, relaxing, and stress-free method of birthing.HypnoBirthing teaches you, along with your birthing companion, the art and joy of experiencing birth in a more comfortable manner. You will learn to call upon your body’s own natural relaxant and thus lessen or eliminate discomfort and the need for medication. When a woman is properly prepared for childbirth and when mind and body are in harmony, nature is free to function in the same will-designed manner that it does with all other creatures.
You will be fascinated as you view HypnoBirthing films showing laboring mothers, awake, alert and in good humour as they experience the kind of gentle birth that you, too, can know when you are free of the Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome.
HypnoBirthing teaches you to release all prior programming about birth, how to trust your body and work with it, as well as how to free yourself of harmful emotions that lead to pain-causing fear and unyielding muscles.
HypnoBirthingwill teach you the art of using your own natural birthing instincts. With HypnoBirthing, you will be aware and fully in control, but profoundly relaxed.
About Hypnosis
Hypnosis is not wierd or strange. It is, in fact a natural state of the mind, that we all pass through at least twice a day - when we go to sleep and when we wake up.
As we settle down to sleep, for example, we are snuggled down and begin to relax. Everyone is familiar with that stage just before we fall asleep, when we are still conscious and aware of where we are, and if our partner gets into bed, we are aware of that, but if someone asks a question, even quite a simple question like 'what's your postcode?', we would have to rouse ourselves to a different 'level' to answer.
We are always aware and 'in control' during hypnosis. Just as, when falling asleep, if someone speaks to us or the cat jumps on the bed, we could wake up, and deal with it. However, we may choose to stay nice and relaxed and ignore the question or the cat.
We are also in a hypnotic state when absorbed in reading a book or watching a film. We switch off our critical 'thinking' brain and sink into a relaxed very focussed state, where we suspend our usual 'thinking' brain. In fact what makes these activities pleasurable and relaxing is that we let ourselves believe that we are there in the story or in the film, rather than in our real lives (where we may have anxieties or a list of thing to do) In fact we hypnotise ourselves.
All hypnosis is self hypnosis. When someone is hypnotised they are allowing the hypnotherapist to guide them on a relaxing journey. But they choose to go on that journey in the same way as you might choose to 'get into' a good book.
HypnoBirthing teaches how to relax at will either alone or with a cd or a birth partner. Being deeply relaxed is the ideal state to be in during birth. It switches off worry thoughts and keeps the mind and body calm.
HypnoBirthing also helps rid yourself of fear thoughts. When in a relaxed state, the mind is more susceptable to suggestions, so at HypnoBirthing we show how to replace negative anxiety thoughts about birth, with more positive helpful ones and get rid of fear.
This reprogramming effect is a major strength of the HypnoBirthing programme.Just learning to relax deeply has a huge effect on the woman's experience of birth, but reprogramming her subconscious mind to expect an easy, joyful birth, and to release fear has a profoundly beneficial effect on her experience.
